These positions will work within the park system completing day-to-day park tasks that may include grounds maintenance, custodial duties, athletic field prep, forestry work, and special event setup.Typical employment season runs May-August. Typical hours of the position are 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:00pm. Weekend and holiday hours may be scheduled as needed. The position reports to the Parks and Urban Forestry Director.The initial deadline to apply is Sunday, April 9, 2026 at 11:59 pm. We will continue to accept applications after the initial deadline until all positions are filled.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesEXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: Examples of the specific tasks of the Parks & Forestry Maintenance LTE include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Perform general maintenance and grounds care at various city facilities as needed.2. Perform general custodial duties of various city facilities.3. Operate some machinery used in park operations including trucks, tractors, mowers, string trimmers, blowers, field painters, ball diamond groomers, hand and power tools.4. Perform minor maintenance on trees as needed including pruning, watering, mulching, and staking.5. Assist the parks and public works crew on various jobs when needed.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The Parks & Forestry Maintenance LTE must have the following:1. Ability to drive trucks, mowers, tractors and other equipment used in park maintenance.2. Knowledge of basic landscaping procedures such as tree and shrub planting and care.3. Ability to work primarily alone as well as with other people to accomplish projects properly.Qualifications1. Must be at least 16 years old.2.Must possess a valid driver's license.Additional InformationWORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed outdoors (100%) and requires that tasks be performed in inclement weather. The Parks & Forestry Maintenance LTE must meet the following physical standards:1. Stand and walk for extended periods2. Intermittently sit, stand, walk and bend3. Lift objects weighing less than 50 pounds4. Sit and ride trucks, lawn mowers and tractors5.
