Structural Steel Shop Painter We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Structural Steel Shop Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the preparation, painting, and finishing of structural steel components in a shop setting. Key Responsibilities: Paint Preparation: Perform surface preparation on steel components, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, sandblasting and applying primers or paint to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish. Material Handling: Safely move and position steel materials using appropriate tools and equipment, ensuring they are ready for painting and finishing. Load and unload trucks with finished or raw material. Painting: Apply various types of industrial coatings using spray equipment, rollers, or brushes to meet project specifications and quality standards. Load Preparation: Prepare finished materials for shipment or storage, including labeling, wrapping, and securing loads for transport. Yard Cleanup: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the shop floor and yard. Ensure that all tools, equipment, and materials are properly stored and maintained. Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, thickness, and uniformity. Perform touch-ups or rework as needed to meet project requirements. Work Experience: Prior experience in structural fabrication painting or a related field is typically required, including hands-on experience with applying primer or finished paint and reading technical drawings. Experience working unsupervised or with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation, attention to detail, and completing tasks on-time. Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations related to structural fabrication is beneficial. Skills: 2-5 Years of experience in industrial painting, preferably with structural steel. Knowledge of paint application techniques and equipment. Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials up-to 50lbs. Comfortable working in a shop and outdoor environment with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions. Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods on concrete floors. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional education or coursework in management, leadership, or industrial engineering may be beneficial for advancement into supervisory roles.
