This high-impact, volunteer role is pivotal in leading the organization's community-focused initiatives. Board members will be responsible for the organizational governance of grants, programs, contractors, consultants, and the budget, providing essential oversight to ensure the mission and future strategic plan are upheld. The role involves acting as a fiduciary, setting and amending organizational goals, and approving all official policies and financial statements. Directors are expected to have reliable attendance at meetings, be passionate public speakers, and demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental justice and water-focused advocacy.Candidates for the Board of Directors should be prepared to make a significant commitment, including a Duty of Care and a Duty of Loyalty. Key responsibilities include adopting and amending the organization's goals, approving budgets, and addressing conflicts of interest. The ideal candidate will have a focus on facilitation, be conflict resolution savvy, and have a deep understanding of the social, political, and environmental landscape of the communities served. The role is not compensated, and members must be willing to identify and manage any potential conflicts of interest.
