Currently, we are looking for an Information Governance Retention Assistant (Temporary) in our Detroit office. In addition to our Detroit office, we have offices in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Kalamazoo, Chicago, IL., and Washington D.C. With more than 350 attorneys working in 60 different areas of concentration, Honigman provides timely and cost-effective counsel to clients in numerous industries.JOB SUMMARYInformation Governance Retention Assistant (Temporary), under the guidance of the Information Governance Retention Specialist, will assist with the destruction of approved on-site records by identifying, retrieving and transporting physical files for disposal and destruction.RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in identifying records that are approved for destruction based on retention schedules and guidelines.Retrieve physical files from on-site storage locations accurately and efficiently.Transport records securely to designated disposal or destruction areas.Ensure proper handling and confidentiality of sensitive information throughout the process.Support the documentation and tracking of records slated for destruction.Maintain organized workflows to ensure timely completion of destruction activities.Follow all company policies and legal requirements related to records management and information governance.Collaborate with the IG Retention Specialist and team members to support ongoing records management initiatives.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalentAbility to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequentlyAbility to handle confidential information with discretionAbility to lift and move boxes/files as neededAttention to detail and quality-focused work along with teamwork, patience, and a desire to help clients and staff.Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
