Comprised of three Art Partners—Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and High Museum of Art—there’s a role for everyone at The Woodruff.Reports ToCostume Shop DirectorFlsaUnited States of America (Non-Exempt)Employment StatusTemporary/Part timeThe Wardrobe Dressers/Add Labor are primarily responsible for running shows, assisting with quick changes, organizing costumes during tech and runs, maintaining costumes’ look and functionality, laundry, costume load ins and strikes for the Alliance Theatre’s productions, including LORT B and D stages, as well as Theatre for Young Audiences shows. The Wardrobe Dressers also work closely with other members of the Alliance Staff including: Costume Shop Staff, Wig Run Crew, Sound Staff, Stage Ops Run Crews, Stage Managers, and Actors.This is a temporary, part-time position, based on the calendar schedule of Alliance productions.Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The FollowingMaintain original look of costumesAttend to the actors in a calm, pleasant and professional mannerAssist actors in dressing and changing costumes and wigsLaunder, iron and repair costumes as neededAttend run-throughs prior to techGenerate paperwork for dressing trackPrep and organize backstage change areasPrep and organize dressing roomsHelp prep understudy tracksAssist with labelling and costume finishing as needed prior to techAssist with costume strike after last performanceQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.ExperiencePrior experience running wardrobe for theatrical productionsExperience in basic theatrical costuming techniquesExperience working with Equity actors or LORT theatres preferredSkills And AbilitiesMust be skilled in using costume and sewing equipment including: steam irons, washers/dryers, laundry supplies, domestic or industrial sewing machines and other standard sewing equipmentMust have strong listening, interpersonal and communication skillsMust be organized and able to interpret and follow directionsMust be able to stay calm under pressureAbility to reliably work a variable schedule based on season calendarBasic computer skills preferredPhysical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
