This position also involves operating cement mixers, power tools and other types of equipment as well as other assigned dutiesDuties and Responsibilities:Builds and assembles wood forms and form systems using saws, hammers, drills, and other power tools as requiredDigs ditches and trenchesCompacts and levels dirt to grade specifications.Shovels cement and other materials into portable cement mixers.Mixes, pours and spreads concreteUses hand tools such as hammer, shovels, chainsaws, drills, hydraulic tools, etc. for necessary tasks.Provides assistance to other workersErects and disassembles scaffolding, shoring, barricades, etc.Loads and unloads equipmentEducation and/or Experience:Two years' minimum Carpenter experienceHigh School education or equivalent preferredAbility to read and understand construction plans, preferredBridge construction preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Attention to DetailAbility to understand and follow oral instructions and effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers and the publicAble to comply with all safety policies and procedures and OSHA regulationsAble to comply with all company policies and proceduresAbility to travel and work overtime (including nights and weekends) when requiredMust have a strong work ethicValid driver's license, preferredMust be able to pass a pre-employment and random drug screen.Physical Demands: The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Able to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAble to stand, kneel, squat, bend, push, pull, climb, and stretch regularly while performing the essential functions of the jobAble to push and pull with hands and arms and move repetitivelyAble to be alert and cognitive of multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including awareness of other employees, subcontractors, machinery, equipment, and moving traffic when applicableAble to work around loud noisesCoordination between hand, eyes, feet to guide tools, equipment and objects is requiredAbility to walk and work on uneven terrainEnvironmental Working ConditionsAll work is performed outside in heat, cold, and inclement weather.Exposure to all elements of natureExposure to all types of terrainExposure to loud noiseExposure to fumes, odors, gasses, dusts, etc.Work in close proximity to heavy trafficNOTE: This job description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities and other essential functions expected of an employee.
