Employees are the heartbeat of this extraordinary service culture and contribute to our collective success in the vibrant core of downtown Seattle.Position SummaryThe Transportation Services Supervisor is responsible for supervising transportation, loading dock, and freight operations for events across the SCC campus, ensuring safe, efficient, and organized movement of vehicles, exhibitors, freight, and equipment within multiple facilities. This position develops and manages weekly staffing schedules based on event activity and operational requirements and provides direct supervision of Transportation Attendants and other event support staff. The Transportation Services Supervisor oversees event-day operations related to loading dock activity, marshaling yard operations, shuttle routing, and freight movement, and works in coordination with Event Managers, Event Logistics, Security, and other departments to support successful event execution. This role ensures compliance with safety procedures, transportation plans, and labor agreements, and performs supervisory duties.Transportation Services Supervisor Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.• Supervise transportation, loading dock, truck marshalling and freight operations for events across multiple SCC facilities to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles, exhibitors, and equipment.• Develop and manage weekly staffing schedules based on event activity, move-in / move-out requirements, and operational needs to ensure accurate staffing coverage.• Direct the operation of loading docks, marshalling yard, shuttle zones, hand-carried freight areas, and designated loading locations during events.• Supervise Transportation Attendant, Dock Leads and other event support staff, including scheduling, training, evaluation, and discipline in accordance with SCC policies and labor agreements.• Monitor staffing levels during events and make real-time adjustments to maintain safe and efficient operations.• Conduct routine inspections of loading docks, freight areas, and transportation zones to ensure compliance with SCC safety and operational standards.• Review and approve payroll, timekeeping adjustments, and leave requests for assigned staff.• Coordinate with Event Managers, Event Logistics, and other departments to plan loading dock assignments, freight routes, and transportation requirements.• Participate in pre-event and post-event meetings to ensure accurate communication of transportation and logistics requirements.• Ensure adherence to SCC operating policies, safety procedures, Transportation Management Plan (TMP), and collective bargaining agreements.• Implement event logistics plans related to dock operations, vehicle movement, freight handling, and transportation routing.• Coordinate with outside contractors, exhibitors, and staffing agencies to support transportation and freight operations within approved budgets.• Maintain records related to staffing, scheduling, transportation activity, and operational requirements.• Maintain a work schedule that provides appropriate supervision of event staff, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with SCC policies and applicable laws.• Perform additional duties as assigned.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Minimum Qualifications:• Associate degree or higher in Hospitality, Event Management, Business, Public Administration, Transportation, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.• Two (2) years of experience in event operations, transportation, logistics, venue operations, security, or related field.• Experience working in a live event, public facility, or operational environment.• Demonstrated ability to provide lead direction or supervise staff in an operational setting preferred.• Experience developing or coordinating staff schedules.• Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by event activity.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience working in a convention center, arena, stadium, or similar public venue preferred.• Experience working with on-call or event-based staff preferred.• Experience with transportation, loading dock, freight, or traffic management operations preferred. *Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Disability Accommodations and Equal Employment OpportunityIf accommodations are required either to complete the application process and/or attend an interview, please contact the Human Resources Department at 206-694-5038.
