Our dedication to deliver products and services focused on improving customers' performance, image, profitability and peace of mind truly makes Peterbilt the Class of the Industry.Requisition SummaryThis position will serve as a liaison between Vehicle Function definition group and the Validation & Verification teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective testing of software features for our trucks. The SW Validation Engineer will be responsible for reviewing Function Requirement Specifications documents, as a key stakeholder with the goal of creating, supporting and managing preliminary and actual test plans, as well as participating of function reviews, and acting as the authoritative voice for vehicle function testing activities.Job Functions / ResponsibilitiesLead efforts in the creation of processes for SW Validation, Engineering workflow, deliverables and timelines in alignment with best practices, quality and development V-cycle usage within PACCAR in alignment with industry standards.Actively participate in the Review of Function Requirement Specifications documents (FRS/FDS) to ensure completeness and clarity.Create preliminary test plans to validate software features, ensuring coverage of all requirements.Support function reviews to ensure alignment with vehicle function and testing activitiesAct as the authoritative voice for vehicle function testing activities, providing guidance and expertise to cross functional teamsCollaborate with Validation & Verification teams to plan, execute, and report on testing activitiesTrack and report on testing progress, identifying and mitigating risks and issuesEnsure compliance with software development processes and testing standardsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and propose solutionsWork closely with Vehicle Function teams to ensure alignment and effective communicationDevelop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Vehicle Function, Validation & Verification, and Software Development teamsCollaborate with the Defect Review Board(DRB) to help process, understand, and resolve defects by supporting their analysis and assignment to the proper Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a timely mannerDefine and document program validation activities and plans, ensuring new products meet required reliability confidence targetsIdentify and incorporate test activities into the Product Financials Supporting Documentation (PFSD) for accurate budget forecastingEnsure validation results from RTSs are documented in the DVPR in WRR, and failures are documented and closed appropriately in governing Failure Reporting And Corrective Action (FRACAS) System whenever applicable.Manage test priorities ensuring higher priority projects have precedent in the testing schedule.Manage test properties, ensuring they are built correctly and on time to meet program validation deliverables, and provide immediate support and containment for test failures or issues.QualificationsRequiredBachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree7+ years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineeringPreferred QualificationsExpert knowledge of Vehicle Function definition and design documents, as well as vehicle functional architectureProficiency in software development processes and testing methodologiesProficiency with PACCAR systems, processes, procedures and validation practices & principles.Proficiency with PowerPoint and presentation skills is required.Proficiency with Excel, Word, Project, and related computer software required.Demonstrated team player with high level of initiative, follow through and flexibility.Must be detail oriented and capable of multitasking workload.Use of established engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.Requires independent judgment and effective project management skills.Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross functional teams and programsAbility to learn on the fly and adapt to change.General Description Of All BenefitsAs a U.S. PACCAR employee, you have a full range of benefit options including: 401k with up to a 5% company match Fully funded pension plan that provides monthly benefits after retirement Comprehensive paid time off – minimum of 10 paid vacation days (additional days are provided with additional seniority/years of service), 12 paid holidays, and sick time Tuition reimbursement for continued education Medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your family Flexible spending accounts (FSA) and health savings account (HSA) Paid short-and long-term disability programs Life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance EAP services including wellness plans, estate planning, financial counseling and moreAdditional Job Board InformationPACCAR is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veteran/Disability corporation.
