CNC Machine Specialist – Automated Sheet Metal Punch/Shear/Forming Line
Operator & Programmer
Position Summary
The CNC Machine Specialist – is responsible for operating, programming,
troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing a highly automated sheet metal fabrication
line. This role serves as the primary technical owner of the automated punch, shear,
and forming equipment, ensuring maximum uptime, product quality, safety, and
production efficiency.
The CNC Machine Specialist will support production through equipment operation,
CNC program development, preventive maintenance, electrical and mechanical
troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong
background in automation, controls, and sheet metal processing. The CNC Machine
Specialist must have experience with Salvagnini Punch/Shear and Form.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Automated Line Operation
Operate and monitor the automated sheet metal punch/shear/forming line to
achieve production schedules and quality requirements.
Set up and verify programs, tooling, material specifications, and production
parameters.
Perform equipment startups, shutdowns, changeovers, and first-piece
inspections.
Monitor machine performance, cycle times, utilization, and throughput.
Respond quickly to equipment alarms, faults, jams, and process interruptions.
Ensure proper material flow throughout the automated manufacturing system.
Programming & Process Development
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for sheet metal punching, shearing,
and forming operations.
Troubleshoot and adjust machine programs to improve accuracy, efficiency, and
equipment performance.
Maintain program backups, revisions, and documentation.
Support the development of new products and manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with Engineering to improve equipment capabilities and reduce cycle
times.
Validate production programs and ensure compliance with print specifications
and customer requirements.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated
manufacturing equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo, and control
system issues.
Diagnose equipment failures and perform root cause analysis.
PLC components, tooling, and machine assemblies.
Maintain machine calibration and ensure proper equipment functionality.
Support spare parts management and recommend inventory requirements.
Quality & Safety
Ensure all products meet quality specifications and engineering requirements.
Follow all safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
Verify machine guarding, emergency stops, and safety devices are functioning
properly.
Support corrective actions related to quality concerns and equipment
performance issues.
Maintain a clean, organized work area utilizing 5S practices.
Continuous Improvement
Analyze downtime and equipment performance data to identify improvement
opportunities.
Participate in Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Implement solutions to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Drive improvements in reliability, throughput, quality, and equipment uptime.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
