In-School Suspension Coordinator
DESCRIPTION In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator STARS Charter School | Moore County, NC STARS Charter School is a K-8 public charter school committed to high expectations, strong relationships, and a structured learning environment. We are seeking a dependable, student-centered professional to serve as our In-School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator. This role is responsible for maintaining a structured ISS environment that supports student accountability while ensuring continued academic progress. The ISS Coordinator also plays a broader role in supporting daily school operations and student learning across the building. This is an active, hands-on role that requires consistent engagement with students and staff throughout the school day. Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise students assigned to ISS, maintaining a structured, orderly, and distraction-free environmentEnsure students complete assigned academic work and remain engaged throughout the ISS periodCommunicate with teachers to collect assignments and monitor student progressEnforce school expectations consistently and professionallyMaintain accurate records of ISS attendance, behavior, and completion of workBuild positive, firm relationships with students while reinforcing accountability and appropriate behavior School-Wide Support ResponsibilitiesProvide instructional support to classrooms, particularly in lower grades (e.g., reading groups, math support, small group assistance)Assist with supervision duties as needed (arrival, dismissal, transitions)Support basic operational needs of the school, including assisting with organization, setup, or light facilities-related tasksStep into needed roles during the school day to ensure smooth and efficient operations Qualifications & TraitsStrong classroom management and the ability to maintain structure and consistencyHigh level of professionalism and reliabilityAbility to work independently and take initiative without constant directionFlexible and team-oriented mindset; willing to support a variety of school needsStrong organizational and communication skillsExperience working with children in a school setting preferred What We're Looking For This role is best suited for someone who is proactive, dependable, and takes ownership of their responsibilities.
