Industry: Aerospace / Avionics / Embedded SystemsPosition OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated Embedded Systems Test Engineer to join our team in Brea, California. This role is responsible for validating embedded software and hardware systems through detailed test execution, defect tracking, and requirements-based verification activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and experience testing integrated hardware/software products. Experience supporting In-Flight Entertainment (IFE), avionics, or embedded systems environments is highly desirable.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute manual and automated test cases to validate system functionality and performance.Analyze system requirements and derive detailed test procedures, test cases, and validation scenarios.Record, document, and communicate test results, findings, and execution status.Identify, log, track, and verify defect resolution throughout the software development lifecycle.Collaborate with software, hardware, systems, and integration teams to troubleshoot issues and validate fixes.Perform system-level testing in integrated hardware and software environments.Review requirements and ensure complete test coverage across functional and non-functional requirements.Support regression, integration, verification, and validation testing activities.Maintain test documentation, test reports, and defect metrics.Participate in test planning, execution reviews, and release readiness assessments.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.3+ years of experience in software, embedded, systems, or integration testing.Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.Experience testing embedded systems, Linux-based platforms, or hardware/software integrated solutions.Proficiency with Linux command line tools and administrative functions.Strong understanding of Linux file systems, including:File and directory managementLibrary managementLog collection and analysisSystem monitoring and diagnosticsKnowledge of Linux networking fundamentals, including:TCP/IPNetwork configurationConnectivity troubleshootingNetwork management operationsExperience using defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, ALM, or similar.Ability to write clear and detailed test procedures from system requirements.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience in In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems.Experience testing avionics systems.Experience with embedded Linux platforms.Familiarity with communication protocols, device integration, and hardware interfaces.Experience working within regulated aerospace or transportation environments.Knowledge of system verification and validation methodologies.Technical SkillsLinux (Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS, Embedded Linux)System TestingIntegration TestingVerification & Validation (V&V)Defect ManagementTest Case DevelopmentRequirements-Based TestingNetworking & TroubleshootingHardware/Software Integration TestingJira, Azure DevOps, Test Management ToolsDesired CharacteristicsDetail-oriented with a strong quality mindset.Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex technical issues.Strong collaboration skills when working with cross-functional engineering teams.Comfortable working in a fast-paced product development environment.Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities.Pay and BenefitsPay Range Minimum: $ 70000 per yearPay Range Maximum: $ 107000 per yearHCLTech is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, religion, sex, color, age, national origin, pregnancy, sexual orientation, physical disability or genetic information, military or veteran status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with federal, state, and/or local law.
