Economic Development Project Coordinator

The purpose of this position is to coordinate and implement economic development projects and programs that support entrepreneurship-led economic development, retention, and expansion efforts ("BRE"), and other relevant programs deemed necessary by the City of DeSoto. This is accomplished by working cooperatively to support other economic development, redevelopment or capital improvement programs or projects of the City of DeSoto. Other duties include creating reports, data analysis, data entry, conducting research, and maintaining records. Must be a highly adaptable and proactive candidate. Assists the Economic Development Director with tasks related to the DeSoto Development Corporation, including the development programs, budgets, meetings, agenda, and events; Assists with background research/analysis on contract development, development agreements, incentives, property acquisitions, and sales; Researches and reports economic development trends and issues, projects, and property sales and purchases; Generates reports and studies, maintains site inventories, develops and maintains database, maintains current demographics, and researches trends based on targeted industries; Performs special projects and compiles, analyzes, and summarizes data to prepare reports, present, and justify recommendations; Performs other assigned duties. Associate's degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, Public Administration, or any other related field; Two (2) years of related work experience; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience. Knowledge of City policies and procedures; Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Knowledge of customer relation management software; Knowledge of business and economic development; Skill in analyzing and implementing economic development marketing concepts; Skill in public relations involving the exchange of information and negotiating and resolving issues with companies and development partners; Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment; Ability to travel up to 25% time; and Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with City administration, other employees, and the general public.
