Overview
As a Full Stack Software Developer Team Lead, you guide a small senior team to deliver reliable, scalable Java full-stack applications within a government-focused program. You work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to plan, architect, and deploy real-time systems, balancing customer objectives with schedules and resources. The role blends hands-on coding with leadership, PI planning, and release coordination to ensure high-quality software delivery. This position is based in Ashburn, VA, with in-person requirements twice weekly, and offers a mission-driven impact across CBP PSPD initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesGuide development efforts to ensure timely, quality project deliveryMentor and coach a team of three senior developersMonitor performance, remove impediments, and drive improvementsCoordinate program-wide software and architecture releasesLead Program Increment (PI) Planning with technical focus and architecture workFoster cross-team collaboration for development, testing, and deploymentUpdate customers on PI progress, testing, deployment, and release readinessMaintain code quality, test coverage, and CM process adherenceBuild front-end with strong visual design and define build API needsMaintain high standards of software quality and automated testingIdentify growth opportunities within the teamCollaborate with government customers on requirementsContribute as a senior developer when needed
Key requirementsBA/BS with 12+ years of relevant experience or MS with 10+ years, or 4 years related experience in lieu of degreeMinimum 12 years of Tech Lead experienceUS citizenship and ability to obtain CBP background clearanceExperience applying AI/ML within the software lifecycle or for mission support8+ years hands-on with Angular, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Spring Boot, Material UI, Java, and related stackAWS Cloud, EKS, Ansible, Git, Rafay; RESTful services, HibernateOracle/MySQL/Postgres, microservices, CI/CD, agile development, UX/UIProficiency with wireframe tools, MS Office, Jira, ConfluenceSelf-starter, strong leadership, ability to work with limited supervisionKnowledge of software design patternsleadershipeffective communicationmentoring and coachingAngularJavaScriptCSS
