Software Developer III

Job Title:Software Developer III Work Arrangement:Telework (Austin, TX - Hybrid Work Location as Required)Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications. Lead coding, testing, debugging, and deployment activities. Analyze business and technical requirements and develop effective software solutions. Create and maintain technical documentation, flowcharts, and user guides. Develop and optimize SQL queries, database schemas, packages, and triggers. Troubleshoot application issues by analyzing logs, memory utilization, thread connectivity, and system performance. Recommend and implement application and system performance improvements. Develop and maintain backup and recovery processes to support business continuity. Coordinate development activities and mentor junior team members. Collaborate with business users, analysts, and technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Support migration of legacy mainframe applications to modern Java/SQL platforms. Utilize Agile development methodologies and Atlassian tools (JIRA) for project management. Prepare implementation plans, testing strategies, and verification procedures. Perform production support and resolve critical application issues. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Skills & Experience15+ yearsof hands-on Java development experience. 10+ yearsof SQL database development and programming experience. 8+ yearssupporting and developing large-scale enterprise applications in a team environment. 5+ yearsof Linux experience. Strong expertise in application debugging, performance tuning, and production support. Experience creating technical documentation and implementation plans. Ability to lead development efforts and coordinate multiple projects. Preferred Skills8+ yearsof experience with Atlassian tools, particularlyJIRA . 8+ yearsworking in Agile/Scrum development environments. Experience supportingState of Texasapplications or theTexas Department of Public Safety . Experience migrating legacy mainframe applications to Java/SQL environments.
