PCA Personal Care Assistant

Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including clinics, teaching hospitals, and inpatient facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients, particularly in environments such as Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency medicine departments, and pediatric intensive care units (PICU). Responsibilities Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients during their recovery process. Monitor patient health by checking vital signs and reporting any changes to nursing staff. Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols. Assist with mobility needs, including transferring patients in and out of beds or wheelchairs. Support healthcare professionals in delivering care within various departments including OR (Operating Room) and hospital medicine units. Document patient care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies. Qualifications Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or in a similar role within a clinical or hospital setting is preferred. Familiarity with the operations of teaching hospitals or trauma centers is advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff. Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others in need of care. Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or inpatient settings. Certification as a nursing assistant or relevant training is a plus but not required.
