Applications are also available here.*LIFEGUARD AND HEAD LIFEGUARD WILL APPLY FOR LIFEGUARD AND YOUR SKILL LEVEL WILL BE ASSESSED AT THAT TIME*LIFEGUARDS:Pay Rate: $14 - $18 hourly*We are currently looking to fill early morning and daytime shiftsEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Supervises swimmers in the pool and on decks. Oversees patron's swimming ability and provides monitoring.Enforces rules and regulations of the pools. Reports safety issues and hazards to appropriate personnel.Provides first aid, CPR, and assistance in and out of the water as necessary; handles emergencies as required.Prepares records, accident reports, and other administrative paperwork.Maintains clean environment; performs janitorial duties as required or assigned to include body fluid cleanup, sanitizing area, and light housekeeping.Assists with scheduled programs (Aqua Fit, swim lessons, water polo, etc.)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 15 years of age.Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard training certification or be willing to obtain certification before start date.Must possess American Red Cross certification in Basic First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.Ability to pass a Center prepared water test.HEAD LIFEGUARDS:Pay Rate: $16 - $21 hourlyEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first aid, and performing water rescues as necessary.Ensures swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on decks. Fills in for lifeguards as necessary.Orients new lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities. Ensures all lifeguards are current on their training and certifications.Schedules, coordinates, and conducts in-service training. Ensures lifeguards are fully competent in first aid, CPR, and all water rescue techniques.Assists with scheduling of lifeguards to ensure that adequate coverage of pool areas are maintained during operating hours.Ensures lifeguards perform in accordance with established safety regulations and policies.Keeps management well informed of pool maintenance needs including cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs.Ensures aquatic programs are occurring as desired and assists with the overall management of swimming events.Performs related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 18 years of age.Must be high school graduate or equivalent.Two (2) years paid lifeguard experience or previous lifeguard supervisory experience.Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard training certification or be willing to obtain certification before start date.Must possess American Red Cross certification in Community First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or be willing to obtain certification before start date.Must possess American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or be willing to obtain certification before start date.Ability to pass a Center prepared water test.SWIM INSTRUCTORS:Pay Rate: $16 - $18 hourlyEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Plans and organizes personal class teaching outlines, methods and goals that support the general teaching outlines provided by the Aquatics Manager and the Murray City Swimming Program.Organizes and directs activities of assigned students in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all students.Ensures all class students are registered, with a registration card prior to beginning class, are thoroughly involved, are on a first-name personalized basis in meaningful instruction for the two week duration and are in receipt of appropriate certificates and awards as the session concludes.Establishes positive public relations with parents/guardians of class students, helping them recognize and understand swimming developments and achievements.Resolves simple public complaints in matters related to swimming instruction and refers other complaints to the Aquatics Manager.Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities.Helps organize and assists in the development of special programs, activities, or instruction.Works with the Aquatics Manager on an ongoing basis to upgrade, improve and refine individual teaching skills related to teaching effective swimming lessons to various age groups and various skill levels.Performs related duties are required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 15 years of age.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must complete swim lesson training with Murray City.Must posses CPR certification or be willing to obtain CPR certification before teaching lessons.SWIM COACHES:Pay Rate: $16 - $17 hourlyEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Coaches and ensures all swim team practices are conducted in a safe and friendly environment.Administers and assists in conducting swim meets with the Aquatics division, including set-up and necessary planning.Is available and attends meetings when required.Keeps track of student's attendance and weekly progress.Sets goals for individual swimmers.Performs related duties are required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 15 years of age.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be a member in good standing with USA Swimming and possess coaching certification through USA Swimming or be able to be certified within one (1) month of hire. Memberships or certifications with teams not affiliated with USA Swimming cannot be substituted.WATER POLO COACHES:Pay Rate: $17 - $19 hourlyEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Training and Development: Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions to enhance individual and team performance.Game Strategy and Execution: Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies tailored to the team's strengths and weaknesses.Player Development: Assess athlete performance, provide constructive feedback, and help players improve their technical and tactical skills.Game Management: Coach and supervise the team during matches, make real-time strategic decisions, and analyze opponent tactics.Recruitment and Tryouts: Assist in scouting and selecting new players for the team.Safety and Compliance: Ensure all practices and games comply with league regulations, safety standards, and institutional policies.Administrative Duties: Coordinate scheduling, travel arrangements, and game logistics in collaboration with athletic staff.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Two (2) years prior coaching experience in water polo desired (collegiate, high school, or club level preferred)USA Water Polo Coaching certification preferred18 years or older preferredStrong understanding of water polo rules, techniques, and strategies; strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to instruct and motivate players of varying skill levelsAvailable to work evenings and weekendsWATERSLIDE ATTENDANTS:Pay Rate: $12 - $13 hourlyEXAMPLE OF DUTIES:Communicates safety and riding requirements to guests on a consistent basis.Dispatches guests on waterslides and enforces all waterslide rules.Communicates with supervisor, lifeguards, and/or aquatics supervisors regarding patron non-compliance issues and safety concerns.Inspects and maintains waterslide attractions and surrounding areas.Maintains positive, professional relations and interactions with guests.Keeps aquatics area clean and clear of potential safety hazards and informs immediate supervisor or maintenance supervisor of any issues or necessary repairs.Performs related duties are required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must be at least 16 years of age.Application Instructions: Applicants must complete a Murray City employment application online at https://selfservice.murraycity.org/ess/ or in person at the Park Center at 202 East Murray Park Avenue or in the Murray City Human Resource office at 10 East 4800 South.Note: In the interest of workplace and public safety, all offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a chemical screen for the purpose of detecting the presence of alcohol and/or controlled substances in the body.
