Database Administrator

Position OverviewThe Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining enterprise database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding data integrity by establishing and enforcing database standards, security controls, and operational procedures.The DBA will lead performance tuning efforts, monitor database health, troubleshoot complex issues, and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies. This position also supports cloud-based database platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, to enable scalable and resilient data environments.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister, maintain, and optimize database platforms including SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL, and DatabricksDiagnose and resolve performance issues across OLTP and data warehouse environmentsDesign and implement high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions (AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, failover groups)Develop and implement monitoring, automation, and proactive performance tuning strategiesLead database migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiativesCollaborate with engineering, DevOps, analytics teams, and external vendors on integrations and enhancementsEnsure database security, compliance, backup, and recovery processes meet enterprise standardsRequired QualificationsDeep expertise in SQL Server and Azure SQL environmentsAdvanced skills in query tuning and performance optimizationStrong experience with HA/DR strategies and database security best practicesExpert-level knowledge of database design, including schema architecture, data modeling, and indexing strategiesPreferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or other analytics platformsHands-on experience with DatabricksFamiliarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD processesStrong scripting and automation experience (e.g., PowerShell, Python)Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholdersEffective communication and documentation skillsProactive mindset with a focus on performance, scalability, and continuous improvementEducation & CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure Database, SQL Server) are a plus
