About the jobBrian Associates is looking for an experienced Accounting Director to support the financial performance of several startup clients within the consumer product market. Brian & Associates’ model is based on deep, meaningful relationships and long-term partnerships with client teams; we roll up our sleeves to work alongside our clients, and act as trusted advisors, not just service providers.Your RoleSupport financial planning and business strategy with insightful analysis of key financial performance trends and operating data, and providing timely, clear communication with client leadership teamsOversee execution on all day-to-day, month-end, and year-end accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, bank, payroll, account reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledgerPrepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for client leadership review and discussionMaintain capitalization tables and oversee equity plan transactionsImplement and model best practices in all areas of the accounting and financial process in accordance with GAAPOversee and coordinate with external partners on insurance, audits, tax functions, and due-diligence activities with investorsMonitor contractual relations for compatibility with financial projections and financial complianceGuide clients through selection and implementation of enterprise solutions that support the long-term growth of the company, and oversee integrations between systemsMentor junior colleagues through successfully addressing financial and client relationship challengesYou ShouldHave excellent analytical, problem solving, and problem & trend identification skillsBe extremely well organized, with attention to accuracy and detailDemonstrate excellent judgment and independence in prioritizing competing deadlines and client needs Effectively communicate and present complex financial concepts for an audience of varying financial understandingWrite and develop concise and educational financial reports and presentations to support business decision makingHave experience working with a range of industries and businesses on a wide variety of financial and accounting tasksYour Qualifications7+ years of relevant accounting and finance experience; 3+ years of audit experienceBachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or professional certifications (e.g. CMA or CPA) preferred but not requiredSignificant experience with inventory accounting, preferably within consumer product goods; retail experience is a plusExperience as a consultant or business partner regularly interfacing with senior leadership and external stakeholdersExperience managing and mentoring junior accounting team membersExperience developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and controlsExperience with Quickbooks and enterprise finance systems, including implementation and maintenance of such systems to meet changing business needsUnderstanding of equity management and VC funding; 409a valuations a plusBenefits and CultureBrian & Associates is a small, remote-first firm.
