Consultant - Business Data Analyst with Biotech R&D ExpertiseJob Summary:We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Data Analyst with expertise inBiotech R&D data and applications. The ideal candidate will be crucial in transformingcomplex data into actionable insights that support decision-making processes in biotechresearch and development. This position requires a deep understanding of biotech R&D data,bioinformatical sciences, pharmacological sciences, and histology data and applications, andthe ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions. The Business Data Analyst willwork closely with R&D, IT, and business teams to ensure that data is accurately captured,analyzed, and utilized to drive innovation and efficiency.The Business Data Analyst is expected to work on-site at least 4 days a week at Voyager’sLexington, MA office location.Key Responsibilities:o Work with IT and R&D teams to ensure accurate data collection, storage, andintegration across various platforms and applications.o Work with Business Owners to analyze complex biotech R&D data and systemsand document requirements for new IT solutions.o Work with Voyager IT and MSP partners to develop and maintain systemintegrations, dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present data findings tostakeholders.o Work with Business Owners to understand statistical methods and data miningtechniques used to extract actionable insights from large datasets and implementa Solution with help from Voyager IT and MSP partners.o Implement and maintain data management processes, including data qualitychecks, data cleansing, and data governance.o Ensure that all data-related activities comply with Voyager standardso Provide support and expertise in the use of bioinformatics and biotech R&Dapplications, including LIMS, ELN, and data analysis tools.o Collaborate with R&D teams to understand their data needs and optimize the useof existing applications.o Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new data tools and applicationsthat enhance research capabilities.o Design and implement business intelligence solutions that align with R&Dobjectives and business goals.o Create and automate reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs)relevant to biotech research.o Conduct ad hoc analyses as required by business leaders and R&D teams.o Serve as a liaison between R&D, IT, and business teams to ensure alignment ondata-related initiatives.o Facilitate communication and understanding of data-driven insights among non-technical stakeholders.o Participate in cross-functional projects that involve data analysis and contributeto strategic planning.Project Management:o Lead or support data-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time andmeet business requirements.o Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, andmanage project timelines.o Provide regular updates on project progress to management and otherstakeholders.Qualifications:Education:o Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Biotechnology,Bioinformatics, Business Analytics, or a related field.o Advanced degree or certifications in Data Analytics, Bioinformatics, orBiotechnology is a plus.Experience:o 10 years of experience as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst, preferably in thebiotech or pharmaceutical industry.o Proven experience in handling and analyzing biotech R&D data, includinggenomic, proteomic, and clinical trial data.o Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and R&D applications (e.g.,LIMS, ELN).Technical Skills:o Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS.o Experience with data visualization tools like JMP, Spotfire, Power BI, or Qlik.o Strong understanding of data management and data governance principles.o Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their data services. Soft Skills:o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.o Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data intobusiness insights.o Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment andmanage multiple projects simultaneously.Additional Requirements: Knowledge of regulatory compliance in the biotech industry (e.g., FDA, EMA) ispreferred. Willingness to stay current with industry trends and advancements in biotech R&D anddata analytics.
