Responsibilities: What you'll be challenged to do: As a top-level designer, works independently on various projects as assigned by a Project Manager or Team Leader. Primary Responsibilities (others may be included): Operates computer-aided design (AutoCAD Civil 3D / Bentley OpenRoads Designer) system and peripheral equipment to resize or modify integrated circuit designs (artwork). Oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Utilize diversified design experience to work on complex, concurrent projects. Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with a Project Manager to determine scope of work, budget, and staffing. Assists in maintaining efficient daily operations by resolving problems of other operators and handling difficult operating tasks. Analyze incoming material and develop drafting methods for most efficient production. Coordinate with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required. Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions. Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and enters editing information into computer. Calculates figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production processes. Applies specified information to produce graphic representation (hard copy) of design for review and approval by engineering and design staff. Works from sketches, notes, and other input material to produce computer generated graphs, charts, overlays, and completed drawings. Follows company and/or Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) standard Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout. Suggest improvements to standard procedures. Follow all ODOT design manuals and guidelines for traffic control, MOT, lighting, ITS and other traffic engineering related design or analysis tasks including cost estimating, quantity takeoffs. Qualifications: What you bring to our firm: Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. At least 12 years of related experience. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. General ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Knowledge Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus; Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), GIS, Revit, SignCAD, Visual Lighting, Synchro, HCS and Estimator recommended.
