OverviewHours: Monday - Friday, 10-15 hours per week.Pay: $10.00/hourThe Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is seeking a Alumni Advocacy and State Relations Intern to start this summer continuing throughout the 2021-20211 academic year. The position will assist the WFAA alumni advocacy program working in social media, event planning, writing and web content development. This internship will include creation of social media strategy, research and content creation, management of Facebook and Twitter accounts, assisting with virtual and in person events, and updating advocacy web presence.Who is WFAA?The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association® to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. We believe that private support grows out of good relationships between campus leaders, faculty and program staff who need support, and the alumni and friends who want to invest in UW-Madison. WFAA values people and the differences that they bring to the organization, and creates an environment in which all staff members and constituents feel respected and have opportunities to thrive.ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communication: Assist in deploying social media tactics for alumni advocacyMonitor social media accountsCreate social media postsBuild a social media ad campaign Maintain and update web pagesManage alumni advocacy softwareOther duties as assignedMarket Research & Data Analysis: Explore new media tools and opportunities to improve engagementCompile data for analysisPerform analysis of program metrics Maintain tracking report of program activityOther duties as assignedProgram and Event management: Assist with coordinating events for alumni advocacy during peak timesCreate and distribute event listing pages on social media websitesCollaborate with UW Office of Government Affairs on key advocacy issuesOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired QualificationsSome college coursework completed and currently enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Knowledge and experience with social mediaStrong writing skillsAbility to work 10 -15hours/week between the hours of 8:00am and 5:30pmOther QualificationsBackground and knowledge of public policy and politics is strongly preferred.
