Geodesicx is in search of an Electronics Technician I to join our team in Chesapeake, VA supporting contracts in the Hampton Roads area and abroad. This position requires basic knowledge of electrical components and circuits and the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.Working under the guidance of senior technicians, this role assists with system integration, diagnostics, and repair of equipment aboard Navy and Coast Guard vessels and at shore-based facilities. The position provides hands-on experience using test equipment, interpreting schematics and technical manuals, and developing practical troubleshooting skills for maritime electronic and navigation systems.Responsibilities:Assisting in the installation, configuration, and testing of multiple electrical and communications systems onto multiple platforms (e.g. radars, ECDIS, sonar interfaces)Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics using standard test equipment such as multimeters, signal testers, and network analyzersSupport repair and maintenance of electronic and networked systemsRead and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to support troubleshooting and installation tasksPerform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenanceDocument all work performed, including service reports, troubleshooting steps, and inspection resultsAssist with equipment removal and replacement (R&R) tasksMaintain tools, test equipment, and workspaces in accordance with safety standardsTravel to customer sites, shipyards, and vessels as requiredMust be able to work in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervisionExperience Requirements: Two (2) years of practical experience, to include: electronics repair, maintenance and checkout.Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems, troubleshooting techniques, and diagnostic proceduresFamiliarity with reading schematics and using technical manualsAbility to use standard hand tools and basic electronic test equipmentStrong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn in a hands-on environmentAbility to obtain and maintain required security clearances (if applicable)Valid driver’s license and ability to travelPreferred ExperienceFamiliarity with marine systems (radar, sonar, ECDIS, GPS)Experience with network systems, IP configuration, and diagnostics toolsPrior military or maritime experienceOSHA or other relevant safety certificationsEducation Requirements: Associate degree in electronics, engineering technology, ORFour (4) year electronics apprentice program, ORFormal electronics training from C level military school in electronics or communications. xaygatp Formal electronics training, to include Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors.
