About the Opportunity:The Senior Data Scientist role is focused on leading the research, design, and deployment of battery state estimation algorithms within the AI & Data Science team. This position directly impacts the commercial value, availability, and performance of the organization''s Battery Energy Storage System fleet by applying advanced machine learning and statistical techniques to estimate battery states.3. Responsibilities:• Develop battery state estimation algorithms from research and development through to production deployment.• Apply deep knowledge of battery energy storage systems, including cell-level physics and system topology.• Design and implement AI/ML models to predict energy availability critical for energy storage trading strategies.• Collaborate with product, energy market analysts, engineering, and DevOps teams to integrate models into production pipelines.• Stay updated on the latest AI/ML and deep learning research.• Lead the transition of AI/ML models from research to scalable, efficient production software.• Manage and analyze large-scale, noisy battery data.• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the AI/Data Science strategic roadmap.4. Requirements:• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative field.• Minimum 5 years of data science or applied machine learning experience, including 3 years in industry.• Proficient in Python development with production-quality coding practices.• Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.• Experience working with large, imperfect datasets using tools like Polars, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and SQL.• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, or Snowflake.• Comfortable with Linux environments and version control systems like Git.• Experience using Jira for Agile project management.• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global teams.• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.Preferred:• Ph.D. in a relevant quantitative discipline.• Experience with Battery Energy Storage System topology and Battery Management Systems.• Knowledge of various Li-ion battery chemistries.• Familiarity with MLOps tools and CI/CD pipelines for model deployment.• Ability to mentor and contribute to technical strategy discussions.5.
