Fencing Specialist
Fence Installation And Maintenance Worker Receives general supervision from the Welder/Fabricator Supervisor to perform specialized tasks in fence installation and repair; perform general maintenance; work with skilled trades in a variety of jobs; fence installation and maintenance work; and perform duties as assigned. Representative Duties: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below (E). Perform basic building and maintenance tasks in fencing, basic carpentry and surface work. (E) Install and maintain a variety of playground equipment. (E) Use a variety of general maintenance tools and equipment. (E) Assist with planning, layout and cost estimation. (E) Perform light welding work. Maintain regular and prompt attendance in the work place. Perform related duties as assigned. Knowledge And Abilities:Knowledge Of:A variety of utility maintenance procedures performed at a school district A variety of skilled fence installation and repair techniques in building maintenance. The function and purpose of a variety of equipment and tools used in construction and maintenance. Oral and written communication skills. Ability To:Perform skilled trades work in basic carpentry, or other maintenance areas. Understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Assist with overseeing the work of and providing training to workers. Physical capability sufficient to perform job tasks. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Carry out oral and written directions; write and speak at a level sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed for the position described. Education And Experience:Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to three years journey level experience in fence installation and maintenance. Working Conditions:Environment:Indoor and outdoor work environment. Regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors. As required, must wear protective devices such as earplugs, dust mask, coveralls, gloves, safety boots and safety glasses. Physical Demands:Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of trade tools. Walk over uneven ground and/or stand for extended periods of time. See with/without assistive devices sufficient to perform assigned duties. Repetitive hand/arm movements (grasp/pinch) for up to 5 or 6 hours. Repetitive foot movements in operating equipment for up to 5 or 6 hours. Lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs for short distances. Occasionally lift and/or carry up to 100 lbs at for short distances. Push/pull up to 100 lbs over campus. Sufficient body movement and balance to bend at the waist, kneel, crawl, crouch and stoop for extended periods for time. Reach overhead, above and below the shoulders and horizontally with up to 20 lbs for extended periods of time. Climb ladders and work from heights. See, hear and speak with/without assistive devices sufficient to communicate effectively with others. Hazards:Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals. Working on ladders. Vibration from equipment.
