Machine Operator
*Job Summary:*
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented *Machine Operator* to join our commercial millwork team. In this role, you will be responsible for cross-operating three critical pieces of production machinery: a *Nested-Based CNC Router*, an *Edgebander*, and a *Glue and Dowel Inserter*. The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial cabinet making or architectural millwork, possesses excellent spatial awareness, and can fluidly transition between machining stations to maintain a steady production flow. Your primary goal will be transforming raw sheet goods into high-quality, precisely machined components ready for final assembly.
*Key Responsibilities:*
*Nested-Based CNC Router Operation*
* Execute programs and cut lists provided by the engineering/detailing department.
* Load and secure raw sheet goods (Melamine, PLY, MDF, Laminate, etc.) onto the router feed table.
* Monitor machining cycles, optimize nesting material yields, and safely unload processed parts.
* Maintain tooling by monitoring bit wear, replacing router bits, and calibrating tool lengths as needed.
* Apply and organize part labels accurately to ensure seamless tracking through the next production phases.
* Forklift operation required.
*Glue & Dowel Machine Operation*
* Adjust machine parameters based on panel thickness, depth, and specific bore patterns required for case construction.
* Feed components into the machine to precisely drill construction holes and automatically inject glue and dowels.
* Monitor glue injection levels to prevent starved joints or excessive squeeze-out.
* Keep the dowel hopper filled and ensure the delivery lines remain clear of blockages.
*Edgebander Operation*
* Set up and adjust the edgebander for various tape thicknesses (e.g., 0.5mm to 3mm PVC, wood veneer, or solid wood strips).
* Feed parts efficiently while monitoring tape adhesion, flush trimming, scraping, and buffing stations.
* Continuously inspect finished edges for glue lines, chip-outs, or misalignment, making manual machine adjustments when necessary.
* Perform daily maintenance, including cleaning glue pots, monitoring adhesive levels, and clearing trimmings.
*Quality Control & General Maintenance*
* Verify part dimensions against shop drawings and cut lists using calipers and tape measures.
* Perform routine daily and weekly preventative maintenance (cleaning, greasing, clearing dust collection ports) across all three machines.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace around the machining cells.
*Qualifications & Skills*
*Below are ideal experience levels. We are willing to train the right candidate.*
* *Experience:* Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating automated machinery in a commercial millwork or production cabinet shop.
* *Technical Literacy:* Ability to read and interpret architectural shop drawings, blue prints, and cut lists. Comfort navigating basic computer interfaces and CNC control software.
* *Material Knowledge:* Familiarity with sheet goods, hardware, and adhesives typical of commercial millwork.
* *Precision:* High attention to detail with the ability to measure accurately down to fractions of an inch or millimeters.
* *Physical Requirements:* Must be able to stand for extended periods and comfortably lift up to *50 lbs* repeatedly throughout the day.
* *Teamwork:* Self-motivated but highly collaborative, with the ability to sync pacing with downstream builders and assemblers.
*Benefits*
* Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
* Health and dental insurance.
* Paid Time Off (PTO), Sick Pay and Holiday Pay.
* Opportunities for cross-training and career advancement within the shop.
Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
