Growing together.Position in this function is responsible for drawing blood on patients, performing necessary in-house testing, and preparing specimens sent to reference lab.Location: 6161 N STATE HIGHWAY 16 IRVING TXPrimary Responsibilities:Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood productsPerforms venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe and butterfly techniques; capillary punctures using heel and finger stick techniques on patients. Identifies and labels specimensConducts designated laboratory testingInstructs patients on urine collection procedures. Allocates urine specimensCleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and work areaInventories supplies and places ordersEnters laboratory data into computer systemMaintains patient confidentialityData enters is accurate and timelyMonitors biohazard wasteEnsures preventive maintenance is performed on all equipment and monitorsResponses timely to abnormal and panic valuesMaintains knowledge of all routine containers and minimum volumes required for specimen collectionPerforms all other related duties as assignedYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma/GEDCurrent National certification or registration as Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment2+ years of phlebotomy experience6+ months of experience performing routine blood and urine tests6+ months of experience with equipment and testing to perform quality control checksBasic level of computer literacyPreferred Qualifications:CLA or ASCP Certified2+ years of experience in a medical settingSkill in operating a variety of laboratory instrumentationSkill in preparing written reports concerning the results of laboratory tests and input data into computer systemSkill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the publicProven ability to maintain all materials for collectionProven ability to read and understand oral and written instructionsProven ability to follow written protocolsProven ability to work independentlyProven good communication and customer service skillsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour based on full-time employment.
