Fleet Technician

Job Description FLEET TECHNICIANBASIC FUNCTIONS: Temporary April-June 30, 2026Service vehicles according to established preventive maintenance schedule.Rotate and balance tires, change oil and filters, lubricate vehicle parts, inspect and replacehoses, belts, mirrors, lamps, and maintain all fluid levels.Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.Maintain accurate and updated records of preventive maintenance.Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable tosupervisor immediately.Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and services.Diagnoses mechanical problems of vehicles.Promotes high standards of safety and acceptable housekeeping methods in all workingareas.Performs mechanical duties such as a general mechanics functions and recognition and repairof all safety equipment.Operate engine hoist and forklift as required.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.QUALIFICATIONS:Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) required.Minimum three (3) years auto/truck maintenance and repair experience.Possess a current Texas Class A or B Commercial Drivers License, with P and Sendorsements.Must be able to drive a vehicle with airbrakes.Knowledge of school bus/automotive mechanical components.Ability to work shifts as needed.Ability to use time wisely to ensure proficient and effective operations.Minimum of four (4) ASE Automotive Certifications (Automotive A1-A-8 or Medium/HeavyDuty Truck T1-T6, or School Bus S1-S7) or obtain ASE certifications within 18 months of 18months of employment, or TASBT Texas Association of School bus Technicians equivalent.Possess and maintain airbrakes certification.Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and effectively perform repairs for all vehicles. This willinclude removal/replacementof engines, fuel systems, electrical, and diagnosetransmissions (RR).Knowledge of Service Maxx, Diamond Logic builder, Cummins In-site, Mercedes, Detroit,and Alison doc programs.After treatment systems including EGR Valves EGR Coolers, SCR, DPF. DOC and Injector Diagnostics.Turbo Chargers-Cylinder Cutout test-Leak down test-High Pressure pump test-ICP & IPR.Ability to diagnose minor mechanical problems and perform repairs withoutsupervision.Ability to operate tools and equipment involved in vehicle repair.Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts.Ability to pass alcohol and drug test.Ability to pass required bus driver safety training.Acceptable driving record.Ability to operate a school bus.
