Senior Systems Engineer – The role designs, deploys, and manages Azure virtual desktop infrastructure to ensure a secure, scalable, and high‑performing AVD environment. The engineer collaborates with cross‑functional teams to deliver a seamless user experience, optimize performance, and maintain security standards in a dynamic virtual ecosystem.
ResponsibilitiesGuide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration test plans.
Diagnose incidents encountered in the environment and resolve problems in systems, processes, and services.
Implement servers, storage, and virtual environments.
Perform security risk, vulnerability assessments and business impact analysis and provide guidance on the application and operations of security controls.
Create testing plans and restore all infrastructure components, including operating systems and infrastructure services, for disaster recovery services.
Work on complex research projects as part of an integrated research team.
Perform system maintenance during after‑hours.
Act as a point of escalation for internal IT teams to support end users.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEffective verbal and written communication with technical and non‑technical users.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, O365, Azure AD, and Exchange Online support.
Deep familiarity with Azure virtual desktop environments.
Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
Knowledge of FSLogix and storage account troubleshooting and support.
Knowledge of data center operations.
Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Commitment and ability to cultivate a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu.
5+ years of experience as a System Engineer with a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience in Azure cloud engineering.
5+ years’ experience supporting Windows‑based applications.
Recent experience with Enterprise Storage and Desktop Virtualization.
Extensive experience working with Microsoft server technologies.
Experience working in a data center environment.
Compensation and BenefitsCovius offers an extensive benefits package for all employees, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Compensation ranges from $97,600 to $122,000 annualized with a 15% AIP opportunity.
Working ConditionsRemote position. Employees must maintain a dedicated professional workspace, reliable internet access, and be available on camera during standard business hours. Working primarily from a home office may require extended computer use and occasional in‑person meetings. Employees must adhere to company policies regarding data security, time tracking, and virtual collaboration. Physical demands include frequent computer use, standard office equipment operation, and the occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
