DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY:Under the direction of the facility Supervisor(s) or on-duty Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor is responsible for the direction and supervision of staff employees of the Residential Program; and assists in the overall administration and management of DSD. A minimum of 80% of work time is spent in direct individual contact.EDUCATION:High school diploma or equivalent required.WORK EXPERIENCE:Three (3) years experience working with intellectually disabled individuals preferred.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:E = Essential Element NE = Nonessential Element25% Provides guidance and supervision to the Resident Assistants and individuals in accordance with program objectives and/or as situations warrant. (E)10% Assists in planning, organizing and implementation of specified developmental services and individual programs as developed by the Interdisciplinary Team and/or referenced in on-going in-service information. (E)10% Ensures individual's overall needs are monitored in regard to their personal possessions, clothing, living areas and personal spending (allowances). Maintains accurate documentation in these areas. (E)5% Routinely provides physical assistance to individuals as needed with activities of daily living (ADL) and in transfers to and from beds, bathroom facilities and company vehicles, etc. Assists and supports individuals with ambulation or gait difficulties. (E)5% Assists in preparation of job performance evaluations for assigned staff members. (E)5% Utilizes appropriate prompts/interventions (physical, verbal, modeling, shadowing, etc.) to carry out individual training programs as assigned or as situations warrant. (E)5% Ensures accurate documentation for each individual's Individual Program Plan, data collection sheets, and goals relative to training programs established by the Interdisciplinary Team. (E)5% Assists individuals in the area of community integration (e.g., transportation, shopping, banking, dining, etc.). Drives agency vehicles to transport individuals to programming, appointments, recreation, and community integration. (E)5% Responsible for individual's overall general physical well being and supervision. (E)5% Administers and interprets residential philosophy, procedure, policy, line of authority and communication to subordinates. (E)2% Implements Individual Behavioral Programs under the direction of the Psychology Department and Interdisciplinary Team. This may involve crisis intervention with aggressive individuals or protecting them from themselves or other aggressive individuals. (E)2% Provides orientation as assigned for new staff members and retrains when necessary, all staff members. (E)2% Adheres to established company/program policies and procedures and regulations related to safety and infection control. (E)1% Participates in the selection of new staff members. (E)1% Commends, when appropriate, verbally and in writing all staff members. (E)1% Disciplines and issues warnings to employees who are negligent in achieving assigned responsibilities. Has authority to discharge employees for acts which violate Allied's Human Resources policies. (E)1% Attends and participates in management meetings as needed. (E)1% Supervises and assists Resident Assistants in the preparation of periodic reports and written evaluations pertaining to individual's progress and program development. (E)1% Responsible for the initial implementation of the client grievance procedures in conjunction with the supervisor on duty. (E)1% Maintains awareness of, and fulfills in a timely manner, employee-related supervisory responsibilities, including accurate completion and distribution of "Employee Confidential Form", "Employee Performance Appraisal Form", etc. Ensures that staff is aware of, and follows, Allied Services Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual as well as the policies and procedures of DSD.
