The ideal leader will bring a strong market presence, strategic vision, and the ability to unify sales and marketing initiatives across two distinct yet complementary destinations.Position OverviewThe Area Director of Sales & Marketing will be responsible for the overall commercial strategy, overseeing sales, marketing, and revenue-driving initiatives across both beachfront resorts. This role will focus heavily on developing and executing strategies that maximize leisure travel demand, expand group and events business, and elevate each property’s positioning within the competitive California coastal market.Working closely with ownership, property leadership, and revenue management teams, this executive will guide market strategy, segmentation mix, and brand positioning while building high-performing sales cultures at each resort.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute a unified commercial and sales strategy for both properties.Drive leisure segment growth, including luxury travel advisor networks, wholesale partnerships, consortia, and direct booking strategies.Lead group sales strategy, including corporate retreats, incentives, weddings, social events, and association business.Partner with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategy, segmentation, and demand generation.Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to on-property sales and marketing teams.Oversee marketing direction including digital strategy, brand positioning, and promotional initiatives.Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, industry partners, and local community stakeholders.Analyze market trends, competitive intelligence, and performance data to adjust strategy and drive market share.Manage forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes to ensure revenue targets are achieved.Qualifications8–10+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience, preferably in luxury or lifestyle resort environments.Strong track record driving leisure and group revenue within resort settings.Multi-property or area-level leadership experience preferred.Deep understanding of California coastal resort markets and consumer travel trends.Proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing commercial teams.Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting and strategic planning.Excellent communication, relationship-building, and executive presence.Leadership ProfileThis role is best suited for a strategic, hands-on commercial leader who can balance long-term brand positioning with immediate revenue performance.
