This position will play a critical role in transitioning relationships from a retiring partner with decades of experience, creating a clear path toward firm leadership and potential Managing Partner succession within 12–24 months. You’ll join a collaborative team that includes two CPAs, two CPA associates, a senior bookkeeper/tax preparer, and an administrative assistant.What You’ll DoPrepare, review, and file individual and business tax returns, including high-net-worth clientsProvide strategic tax planning, compliance support, and financial guidanceMaintain and grow long-term client relationships through a high-touch, advisory approachStep into key client relationships and ensure a smooth transition from a retiring CPALead, mentor, and collaborate with junior accountants and support staffOversee aspects of day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term firm strategyParticipate in year-round client work, with extended hours during peak tax seasonWhat We’re Looking ForRequired:Active CPA license or senior-level tax accountant with equivalent experience (CPA-eligible considered)Strong background in public accounting and tax preparationExperience working directly with clients, including high-net-worth individualsAbility to work independently while collaborating within a small teamWillingness to work on-site in Brookings, SDPreferred (Flexible):~5+ years of relevant experienceExposure to both individual and business tax engagementsInterest in long-term growth, leadership, and deeper firm involvementWork Environment & SchedulePrimarily on-site in Brookings, SD (minimum 4 days/week)1 remote day negotiable, with increased flexibility over timeStandard business hours most of the year, with extended hours during tax seasonThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys face-to-face client interaction and being part of the local community.Compensation & GrowthSalary range: $85,000 – $105,000, depending on experienceCompetitive, negotiable compensation structureEquity grant after a 6-month probationary periodOpportunity to purchase additional ownership over timeClear upside for long-term financial and professional growthPotential leadership path to Managing Partner Why WithU?No corporate bureaucracyDeep-rooted client relationships built over 40+ yearsStrong, stable revenue base with room to growA firm that values people, community, and doing things the right wayAdditional Job Application TermsThis job is part of LinkedIn’s Full-Service Hiring beta program.
