Facility Security Officer

OverviewThe Facility Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for administering and overseeing the organization's security program in compliance with government and company requirements. This role ensures the protection of classified information, facilities, and personnel, and serves as the primary liaison with government security officials.Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance ManagementImplement and enforce the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other federal security standards.Personnel Clearances (PCL)Manage the lifecycle of employee security clearances, including initiating applications through systems like iDISS or NBIS, conducting background check reviews, and processing indoctrinations or debriefings.Facility Clearances (FCL)Maintain the company\'s eligibility to hold an FCL, which involves managing documentation, preparing for government audits, and reporting organizational changes.Security Education & TrainingDevelop and lead security awareness programs, including initial briefings for new hires and annual refresher training on insider threats and classified data handling.Physical SecurityOversee access control systems, visitor management, alarm systems, and the safeguarding of classified materials in secure storage areas.Insider Threat ProgramLead and administer the Insider Threat Program as the designated Senior Official (ITPSO) to detect and mitigate risks from within.Inspections & AuditsConduct regular self-inspections to ensure audit readiness for formal DCSA vulnerability assessments.Keywords: NISPOM, COMSEC, Insider ThreatQualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience in security, criminal justice, or related fieldMinimum of 8-10 years of experience in industrial or government securityExperience serving as an FSOActive security clearance Top SecretStrong knowledge of government security regulations, NISPOM, COMSEC and NATO, etc.Proficiency with security systems and databases (e.g., DISS, NISS, or equivalent)Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to manage sensitive and confidential informationProblem-solving and critical thinking skillsAbility to work independently and with cross-functional teamsHigh level of integrity and professionalismWork EnvironmentOffice-based with periodic facility inspectionsInteraction with government agencies and auditorsOccasional travel requiredJ-18808-Ljbffr
