Senior Research Associate - Flow Cytometry
Job Description Senior Research Associate, Flow Cytometry (3 Month Contract) Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with deep expertise in flow cytometry to join our team on a 3 month contract basis. This individual will play a key role in supporting immunology and/or cell biology research initiatives through the design, execution, and analysis of complex flow cytometry experiments. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced operating independently in a fast-paced research environment. Duration 3 Month Contract Location San Francisco Bay Area Key Responsibilities • Design, optimize, and execute multicolor flow cytometry assays for cell phenotyping, functional analysis, and biomarker characterization • Perform sample preparation including PBMC isolation, cell staining, viability assessments, and compensation controls • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometry instruments including BD FACSCanto, LSRFortessa, Cytek Aurora, FACSymphony, or similar platforms • Analyze and interpret flow cytometry data using FlowJo and other relevant software platforms • Develop gating strategies and generate high-quality datasets and summary reports for internal teams • Collaborate cross-functionally with research scientists and project teams to support experimental objectives and timelines • Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure compliance with SOPs and regulatory standards • Assist in assay validation, protocol development, and continuous process improvement initiatives • Support additional laboratory activities as needed in a dynamic R&D environment Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related scientific discipline • 4+ years of hands-on flow cytometry experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, academic, or CRO environments • Strong experience with multicolor panel design, assay optimization, and flow cytometry troubleshooting • Proficiency with FlowJo and flow cytometry data analysis workflows • Experience handling human primary cells, PBMCs, or immune cell populations preferred • Strong understanding of immunophenotyping and cell-based assay development • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines Preferred Qualifications • Experience with spectral flow cytometry platforms such as Cytek Aurora • Prior experience supporting immuno-oncology, cell therapy, or translational research programs • Familiarity with GMP/GLP environments is a plus • Experience with cell sorting or FACS instrumentation preferred
