The successful candidate will have a PhD or an EdD in Speech-Language Pathology or related fields - ex. Psychology, Linguistic Sciences. The ideal candidate should have scholarly expertise in child and adolescent language disorders and one or more of the following areas: literacy, bilingualism, developmental disabilities, speech sound disorders, phonology, disorders of rhythm, or complex communication is preferred. The ideal candidate(s) will demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research with undergraduate and graduate students; a record of research related activities (e.g., scholarly presentations, research publications, grant writing); and dedication to providing training and services relating to culturally and linguistically diverse populations. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide clinical supervision and support to HBCU undergraduate and graduate students through academic advising as well as mentorship. The university is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have demonstrated a commitment to improving access to higher education, enhancing equity, and social justice.Duties & Responsibilities:Demonstrate excellence in teaching and research with undergraduate and graduate students;Demonstrate a record of research-related activities;Demonstrate a dedication to providing training and services relating to culturally and linguistically diverse populations;Demonstrate the ability to provide clinical supervision;Demonstrate support to HBCU undergraduate and graduate students through academic advising as well as mentorship;Contribute to the operation and growth of the speech pathology department;Participate in service activities for the department, university, and community;Ability to develop and teach face-to-face as well as online classes, if needed.Demonstrate the ability to contribute to recruitment efforts and our existing strengths in community-based partnerships;Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in creative scholarship and social justice.About our Department and the PositionsThe Department of Speech Pathology offers an undergraduate major and minor in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. The master's program in Speech-Language Pathology at Xavier University of Louisiana is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In the department of Speech Pathology, undergraduate seniors have the opportunity to enroll in two semesters of clinical practica, and graduate students enroll in clinical practica each semester of enrollment.
