The successful candidate will have a PhD or an EdD in Speech-Language Pathology or related fields - ex. Psychology, Linguistic Sciences. The ideal candidate should have scholarly expertise in child and adolescent language disorders and one or more of the following areas: literacy, bilingualism, developmental disabilities, speech sound disorders, phonology, disorders of rhythm, or complex communication is preferred. The ideal candidate(s) will demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research with undergraduate and graduate students; a record of research related activities (e.g., scholarly presentations, research publications, grant writing); and dedication to providing training and services relating to culturally and linguistically diverse populations. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide clinical supervision and support to HBCU undergraduate and graduate students through academic advising as well as mentorship. The master's program in Speech-Language Pathology at Xavier University of Louisiana is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In the department of Speech Pathology, undergraduate seniors have the opportunity to enroll in two semesters of clinical practica, and graduate students enroll in clinical practica each semester of enrollment.
