Staff Firmware EngineerAustin, TX | $110K–$151K base + bonus, equity & benefitsA fast-growing energy technology company is seeking a Staff Firmware Engineer to develop and validate firmware for next-generation power conversion and inverter systems.This is a hands-on role combining embedded software, real-time control, hardware bring-up, and system-level debugging.What You'll DoDevelop real-time firmware primarily in C/C++Implement and optimize embedded control algorithmsBring up and debug power electronics hardwarePerform unit testing, simulation, HIL, and prototype validationWork closely with hardware and controls engineers on firmware/hardware co-designTroubleshoot complex system-level issuesContribute to development infrastructure and automated testingMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadershipWhat You BringBS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field8+ years relevant experience with BS, 6+ with MS, or 3+ with PhDExpert-level C/C++, with strong software architecture and algorithm fundamentalsDeep experience with bare-metal and real-time embedded systemsStrong understanding of RTOS, multithreading, and embedded architecturesExperience with ARM Cortex-M platforms and peripherals including ADC, PWM, SPI, and GPIOStrong hardware debugging skills using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and similar toolsFamiliarity with GCC, GDB, CMake, Make, Git, and modern development workflowsExperience with CI/CD and containerized development environmentsNice to HaveZephyr RTOSPID/control loops and digital signal processingCAN or other industrial communicationsEmbedded or desktop LinuxGrid simulators and programmable loadsAI-assisted software development workflowsWhy This RoleJoin a highly technical team working on next-generation power electronics and control systems, with significant ownership over firmware architecture, real-time controls, and hardware integration.Austin, TX | Occasional domestic travel | US work authorization requiredInterested?
