Vacancy Announcement RECREATION COORDINATORPART-TIMESTARTING HOURLY RATE: $20 PER HOURPosition Overview: The City of Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events Department is looking for a Part-Time Recreation Coordinator, with a focus on programming and aquatics. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the planning, organizing and implementation of recreational activities during the school year and overseeing day-to-day operations at the Doris E. Buffett Pool during the summer season. This position will operate under the supervision of the Division Manager of Recreation. This position will require varied work hours and days depending on the program season and offerings.Job Details:Position: Recreation Coordinator – Programming & AquaticsHours: 15-40 hours per week (40 hours during the summer months, hours dependent on programming in off season. Total hours not to exceed 1560)Duration: year-roundWork Environment: Inside, outside, and in varying weather conditionsWhy You Should Apply:Lead and Inspire: Provide leadership and support to participants of all ages in our engaging summer programsDynamic Activities: Assist in planning and leading fun, developmentally appropriate activities that promote growth and learningCommunity Impact: Create a warm and caring atmosphere while fostering connections with participants and their familiesKey Responsibilities:Program Creation, Implementation, & SupportDaily pool operations and programming from May 1 - the start of the academic yearProgram creation and implementationOpening and closing duties, supply and merchandise inventory, general custodial duties, record managementStaff Management and trainingPromote programmingWork with instructors to ensure a high-quality experience for participantsDevelop and establish partnerships for programsCommunicate and coordinate with community partnersHire, support, train and supervise program staffEvaluate programs, including conducting participant surveys, to identify areas for improvements and areas of successDevelop staff training materials for programsUnderstands and utilizes recreational management software for promotion and scheduling of programsRecords and tracks expenses related to programming and assists in the development of the annual budget for PREPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Facility Management, Public Administration, or a related fieldConsiderable (3 - 5 years) experience in professional-level, year-round recreation work, including programming and coordinating recreational activities, or experience in parks, recreation, or special event management and operations, or sports facility management and operationsCurrent CPR/First Aid Certification (can be obtained up to 6 months after hiring)Aquatics Facility Operator or similar Certification (can be obtained up to 6 months after hiring)A valid driver’s license for Commonwealth of VirginiaCriminal background and driving record checks requiredWhat We're Looking For:Outgoing and compassionate individuals who can make our team even betterGreat organization and communication skillsSelf-starters who can work independently and take initiativeStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to follow directions and work collaboratively with a teamWhat We Offer:Competitive payOpportunity for professional growthA supportive and dynamic team environmentReady to join our team?
