Senior Accountant
Senior Accountant Our LHH Recruitment Solutions client is seeking a senior accounting professional for a long-term contract engagement supporting core accounting operations and a major finance system initiative. This is a hands-on role that blends close-cycle execution with data validation, cross-functional testing support, and financial reporting accuracy in a fast-paced environment. The role is hybrid with just 1 or 2 days in office as needed. Key Responsibilities Own day-to-day general accounting activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance investigation. Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring timeliness and accuracy across reporting periods. Support an ERP/Workday financials initiative by assisting with testing, issue triage, and coordination with cross-functional partners. Perform large-scale data review, cleansing, and validation to protect financial data integrity during system changes. Analyze financial results, research discrepancies, and document/resolve items in alignment with GAAP. Contribute to reporting enhancements and process improvements in a high-volume, systems-driven environment. Must-Have Qualifications Deep experience working in a modern ERP/general ledger environment, including supporting system changes, reconciliations, and data checks. Proven track record executing critical close activities (month-end through year-end), including preparing entries, clearing items, and validating results. Solid grounding in U.S. GAAP with the ability to research issues and apply accounting guidance to real scenarios. Strong general accounting skill set (journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, variance/root-cause analysis, and financial statement support). Advanced Excel skills and comfort analyzing and reconciling large, messy datasets. Experience operating in high-volume, detail-intensive environments where accuracy and deadlines matter. Ability to prioritize multiple workstreams, communicate status clearly, and partner effectively across finance and business teams. Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance. Extensive accounting experience (typically 10+ years) in progressively responsible roles. Nice-to-Have Qualifications Workday Financials experience. Fixed assets / PP&E accounting background. Prior involvement in data remediation, cleansing, or large-scale validation efforts. Experience supporting ERP implementations, UAT, or cross-functional testing cycles. Comfort building, refining, or automating recurring financial reports. Strong analytical approach and problem-solving skills, particularly in data-heavy environments.
