2nd Shift CNCHorizontal LatheMachinistNew Britain, CT (On-Site)
$24 – $36 per hour
Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Position OverviewThe 2nd Shift CNCHorizontal LatheMachinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC horizontal lathe equipment under the direction of the CNC Supervisor. This role ensures efficient production, maintains high-quality standards, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the department.Essential Job FunctionsSet up and operate CNC horizontal lathe equipment, including Nakamura machines
Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and use precision measuring instruments
Independently perform setups and adjustments to maintain production efficiency
Change and set all required tooling
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
Ensure the quality of all parts produced on assigned machines
Train and support operators within the department
Maintain 5S standards in the CNC Lathe Department
Conduct line walks as directed by the supervisor
Follow all company safety rules and report unsafe conditions
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and Employee Handbook guidelines
Perform additional duties as assigned
Additional ResponsibilitiesSupport company goals by reducing lead times and improving customer satisfaction
Participate in problem-solving teams and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to Kaizen events
Prepare and present Gemba Board updates as needed
Required Skills & ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of CNC setup experience
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of feeds and speeds
Experience working with:Aluminum
Brass
Ledloy
300 series stainless steels (including 316)
430F and 430FR stainless steelBasic computer literacy
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Strong decision-making skills and accountability
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Frequent use of hands for tooling and machine operation
Regular standing and walking
