Product Development Engineer

We are looking for a candidate that will fit well with the fun, creative, and skilled Product Development Team. The PD team is responsible for developing and executing the design specs and product components required to build the best spas in the world. Position is on "Day" shift. Wage depends on qualifications and experience. The position is for potential Engineer I, or II as the candidate will be selected based on a combination of experience and the best fit for the team. Candidate Summary: Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as concept generation, product design, preparation of specifications, completion of technical drawings, and product testing. Reviews product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and product related regulations. Coordinates activities concerned with production teams, compliance, and with sales and marketing. Able to clearly define and communicate with others the solutions for critical challenges. Willing to engage in projects in both hands-on prototyping and testing as well as the theoretical simulations and design. Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family. Work with product development using a cross-functional team effectively. Ensures production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel. Creates process procedures for the department to improve consistency and quality. Ensure products are safe enough to be placed in showrooms and used by consumers. Generate products and services from inception to commercialization for customers. Define products and programs. Grow company revenues by helping develop new products. Manage product certification process. Advise vendors on best practices and methods to correct issues. Tests finished product for quality purposes and recommends changes to product specifications, as necessary. Familiar with and uses a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Define product specs. Work with suppliers to deliver quality products. Familiar with and employs 5S, Lean, product DFM, and FMEA principles. Participate in cross-functional teams to execute product development plan. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Requirements: Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field (preferred), experience in related field will also be considered. 1-3 years of Product Development Experience. Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products. Fully effective in Solidworks (preferred), Catia, ProE, or other engineering software. PDM and surface modeling experience is a plus. Capable of creating consistent and clear CAD drawings for Vendors. Individually motivated, pro-active, needs little to no supervision and yet is willing to reach out and ask questions when necessary. Capable of creating concept models, manufacture-ready models, and geometric drawings without supervision. Familiar with and employs 5S, Lean, product DFM, and FMEA principles. Familiar with Phase Gate product development. Capable of conducting a proper FMEA within a team and correct any concerns within the design performance and/or aesthetics of any given feature. Capable of conducting proper DOE (Design of Experiment) with no supervision. Capable of determining ROI for Capital Investments. Responsible for designing and developing a product/product family to grow company revenue. Define products specs and programs and execute cradle to grave. Ensure products meet regulatory and Bullfrog safety requirements. Test finished product for quality/performance purposes and recommend changes to product specifications, as necessary. Advise vendors on best practices and methods to correct issues and ensure they deliver quality products. Be familiar with and use a variety of the field's concepts, practices, procedures, and engineering principles. Wide range of knowledge of material characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. Extensive experience with plastics, hydraulics, chemicals, and/or agency listings a plus. Robot programming/MasterCAM experience a plus.
