Remote DevOps Engineer (AWS Optimization)

DevOps EngineerOur client is seeking a highly technical, hands-on DevOps Engineer to lead AWS cloud cost optimization initiatives across a multi-account environment. This individual will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and executing infrastructure changes that drive a targeted 20-23% reduction in AWS spend. The ideal candidate has a strong background in AWS infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud cost optimization. This is an execution-focused role where the engineer will not only identify savings opportunities but will also implement the changes directly through Pulumi and existing GitHub/GitLab repositories.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze AWS infrastructure across 21 AWS accounts to identify cost-saving opportunities.Focus optimization efforts on the highest-cost services, including:EC2 InstancesVirtual Private Cloud (VPC) resourcesContainersLoad BalancersAssess legacy applications and infrastructure to identify:Unused or underutilized resourcesOversized EC2 instancesIdle environments that can be shut down or scheduledLegacy workloads that can be consolidated, rightsized, or decommissionedExecute infrastructure changes to achieve a targeted 20-23% reduction in AWS operational spend.Implement changes using Pulumi and manage infrastructure code within GitHub/GitLab repositories.Modify existing IaC configurations and deploy approved optimization initiatives.Partner with engineering teams to ensure cost reductions do not negatively impact performance, security, or availability.Track and validate realized savings from optimization efforts.
