With more than 100 years of engineering expertise, Raytheon combines innovation, systems engineering, and disciplined product development to address complex defense challenges.The Guidance Electronics Team develops electrical systems and guidance electronics solutions across the Raytheon Missiles and Defense portfolio, with expertise spanning RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Digital, and Power technologies.About the RoleRaytheon is seeking a Principal GPS Subsystem Engineer with strong experience in GPS technology and electrical hardware development. This role focuses on developing GPS electronics solutions for missile products, including architecture development, requirements definition, analysis, modeling, integration, and testing.The engineer will collaborate with missile-level systems engineers, suppliers, customers, and multidisciplinary technical teams to develop and validate GPS subsystem requirements and solutions.This is an onsite position in Tucson, Arizona.Salary Range: $107,500–$204,500 annually.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop GPS electronics solutions and architectures for missile products.Define, decompose, and validate GPS subsystem and component requirements.Perform electrical hardware, subsystem, and component analysis.Develop system architectures and support new electronic system designs.Create and document subsystem requirements and test plans.Conduct modeling, simulation, integration, and hardware testing.Participate in peer design reviews as a technical subject-matter expert.Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams, leadership, customers, and government stakeholders.Conduct root-cause failure investigations and support troubleshooting activities.Interface with suppliers of GPS, IMU, and navigation electronics to monitor technical and programmatic performance.Ensure supplier deliverables and products comply with established requirements.Collaborate with Functional and Program leadership as well as customers and suppliers.Support multiple programs and cross-functional engineering teams.Mentor other engineers while continuing to develop technical expertise.Contribute to proposals and product development activities across the full lifecycle.Support domestic and international travel as required.Benefits & PerksCompetitive salary range of $107,500–$204,500.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.Life insurance.Short- and long-term disability coverage.401(k) matching.Flexible spending accounts.Flexible work schedules where applicable.Employee Assistance Program.Employee Scholar Program.Parental leave.Paid time off and holidays.Potential eligibility for annual short- and/or long-term incentive compensation.Opportunities for technical mentorship and career development.Opportunity to contribute to advanced guidance and navigation technologies.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.Experience with electrical hardware development.Experience in one or more of the following:Subsystems engineeringSystems engineeringRequirements developmentRF electrical subsystemsRequirements validationAbility to work independently with limited supervision.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience with missile radar and RF seeker subsystems, including antennas, analog RF circuit cards, digital circuit cards, or configurable logic.Experience with systems engineering and architecture development.Knowledge of navigation subsystems and components used in modern guidance electronics platforms.Experience integrating GPS and IMU navigation subsystems using Kalman filter techniques.Knowledge or experience with M-Code.Familiarity with MATLAB scripting and engineering tools.Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.Experience with modeling, simulation, environmental testing, and electronics test equipment.Experience working with missile systems or comparable aerospace and defense systems.Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering teams.Experience managing and driving supplier commitments.Knowledge of DoD hardware development processes and design gates.Practical experience across the complete product development lifecycle.Proposal development experience.Knowledge or experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).Interest in progressing toward a guidance section architect role.Security & Work RequirementsThis position requires U.S. citizenship because candidates must be eligible for a U.S. government security clearance. An active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain an interim clearance before the start date, is required.The position is based in Tucson, Arizona, with work potentially involving office, laboratory, and field environments.
