About The Role:
Flocker is seeking a highly talented and motivated Founding Frontend Engineer to join its remote team. This pivotal role is integral to completing the final pre-launch phase and shipping a comprehensive iOS and Android application within the next four to six months. As a founding member of the engineering team, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the product’s development from the ground up, working closely with a small, dynamic group of experts from top-tier tech backgrounds. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain high-quality mobile applications using JavaScript-based cross-platform frameworks, ensuring a seamless user experience for social and media features. You will collaborate with backend and AI engineers, translating designs into functional, engaging interfaces while participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle. This role requires a proactive, innovative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment where priorities may shift rapidly based on user feedback and strategic goals.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality mobile applications
- Proven expertise in building consumer social apps
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript-based mobile development frameworks such as React Native, Ionic, Capacitor, or similar
- Demonstrated ability to build and launch market-ready products, including personal projects, startups, or ventures
- Portfolio of shipped apps available for download and review
- Leadership qualities, self-motivation, and comfort working in ambiguous or evolving environments
- Willingness to work founder hours for significant equity, understanding that salary will be available post-funding
Bonus:
Experience with media features such as photo filters, video editing, or related functionalities
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain high-quality, responsive mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms
- Implement in-app photo filters, video editing tools, and other media features to enhance user engagement
- Translate visual and interaction designs into robust, production-ready code with precision
- Collaborate closely with backend and AI teams to ensure seamless integration of server-side logic and features
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment
- Work within an agile startup environment, iterating rapidly and adjusting priorities based on feedback and analytics
- Contribute to creating scalable, maintainable, and efficient codebases that support future growth
