The Opportunity:The Encapsulation Lead has the responsibility to ensure all the Encapsulation Machines are running to maximum efficiency while minimizing costly down time. Along with training and scheduling the Encapsulation Machines, the lead is also expected to be able set up and run the high speed (Bosch) encapsulation machines. The Encapsulation lead is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. The Encapsulation lead will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws as it pertains to California Labor law. The lead will direct, reward, discipline, address complaints and resolve all personnel and process issues as they develop in the department. What You'll Do:Visually inspect products on the production line and/or inspection room for defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications. Set up the capsule machines with the proper tooling required as per the MBR specifications, and manufacturing directions, following the specific S.O.P. for the department, guided by the cGMP's. Reassembly of parts mentioned and filling of blended materials into the product hopper manually with a sanitary product scoop. The high-speed Bosch requires electrical disconnects/lockouts before removing the segments, dosing pins, product and capsule hoppers, and dosing disc. Cleaning of the tabletop surface and machine guard doors and windows must be performed before reassembly occurs. Adjust and set up machines to obtain the proper fill weight as specified in the MBR. Operate and clean metal detectors and capsule polishers as necessary. Use sanitary containers for the finished capsules. Weigh in process capsules for adherence to product specifications and record results on the batch record. Visually inspect finished capsules for minor or major defects, including color shifts and particle size separation. Requires coordination with Quality Control on batch record signoffs and anything that violates cGMP's. All tabletop surface areas and base cabinet walls must be cleaned, and sanitized. Responsible for finalizing batches, reconciling discrepancies, and researching root causes of error. Will assist with Cycle Counts and support inventory accuracy. What You'll Bring:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to stand for 10 hours and able to lift 50 lbs. Lifting raw material containers that fall within OSHA limitations is necessary. Other activities include material handling using forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks. Interface as either a checker or weigher to satisfy double checks and balances required and must be able to set up digital scales and wear a dust respirator when needed. Education Requirements:High School Diploma/Certificate; or 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
