Job Description - Speech Language PathologistQualifications: Indiana Teaching License in Speech LanguageReports to: Director of Special Services or his/her designeeJob Goal: To help reduce/eliminate/accommodate speech, language, and hearing disorders within the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the corporations' educational program.Performance ResponsibilitiesProvides screening to identify possible speech and language impairments. Assists with the hearing screening process. Provides assessment/diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, auditory perception, and language impairments. Compiles data on student's history: health, family, early developmental, and environmental as required for assessment.Writes/implements the Individual Education PlanProvides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with disabilities in the areas of speech, language, and hearing-impaired; cooperates with the classroom teachers and staff members to implement therapy via suggestions for the student's daily activities. Maintains records and submits all required reports and documentation of students receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.Is a resource person to staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech and language impairments.Assists/guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.Requisitions required supplies and maintains equipment and supplies.Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement.Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Services.Terms Of EmploymentDays and salary established by the teacher's contract of the school corporation which employs the SLP.EvaluationAccording to each school corporations' teacher contract policy.Building/Campus Special Education Department
