Clinical Pharmacist
UNITY PHYSICIANS’ HOSPITAL is a 29-bed medical and surgical hospital at 4455 Edison Lakes Parkway, Mishawaka Indiana. Because we are focused on patient satisfaction, we deliver better results and more positive outcomes.We are currently seeking a Pharmacist to work PRN (8 or 12 hour shifts, no nights/no weekends/no holidays). Must have several years of experience, preferably in a hospital surgical environment, mixing chemotherapy.Job Summary:The pharmacist assists the Director of Pharmacy in the operation of the pharmacy department by assisting in the preparation and distribution of medications; maintaining the drug inventory; and maintaining patient and pharmacy records in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations and hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures. The pharmacist is responsible for the daily operation of the Pharmacy department. The pharmacist will provide Pharmacy services including patient care, consultative and drug information services to patients and healthcare providers.Duties and Responsibilities:Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and always conducts oneself in a manner consistent with these values.Know and adheres to all laws and regulation pertaining to patient health, safety and medical information.Facilitates the development, implementation, monitoring of adherence to, and administering departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the administration and review of the activities completed by pharmacy technicians.Reviews medication orders for clarity, safety and correctness. Ensures appropriate drug, dose, route and timing of needed medications.Provide independent dosing information for patient and disease specific drugs.Ensures prompt and accurate order entry, preparation, and legal distribution of drugs and other pharmaceuticals to patient, including but not limited to product preparation, repackaging, labeling, stability, delivery and record keeping.Communicates effectively, tactfully, continuously, clearly and positively with the entire scope of customer, visitors, and staff. Obtains clarification of medication orders and supplies information for the safe and effective use of medication. Information given as needed may be regarding drug interactions, incompatibilities, side effects, or administration guidelines.Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and sure all equipment is in working order.Works in conjunction with associates to make decisions in a timely manner.Maintains current knowledge regarding pharmacy, hospital, and healthcare related topics.Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.Performs work within specified time frames. Adapts positively to frequent interruptions and changes in workload and/or work schedule.Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff. Pharm .D. preferred but not required.Experience: 2-3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.Licensure: Current indiana Pharmacist lioense.Skills: Ability to work independently and to perform work accurately with attention to detail and within specified time periods. Ability to handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Ability to assist in meeting pharmaceutical care needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
