We care deeply for our employees, clients, and the communities we serve, always prioritizing well-being and support.Location: Woodbury, Long Island CityReports To: Nick Likourentzos, Service Operations Manager Hood & Duct, Kitchen Fire SuppressionPosition Overview:We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Hood & Duct Level 2 Crew Chief to lead field teams performing commercial kitchen exhaust system cleaning and fire life safety compliance services. This role combines hands-on technical execution with crew leadership, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable fire and safety standards. The Crew Chief serves as the on-site leader responsible for quality control, customer communication, and team performanceKey Responsibilities:Field Operations & Technical ExecutionPerform and oversee cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems (hoods, ducts, fans) in accordance with NFPA 96 standardsInspect systems for fire hazards, code compliance, and operational deficienciesEnsure proper use of chemicals, tools, and equipmentDocument work performed through service reports, photos, and compliance recordsCrew LeadershipLead, train, and mentor Hood & Duct TechniciansAssign daily tasks and manage workflow on job sitesEnforce safety protocols and company standardsServe as the primary decision-maker in the fieldCustomer InteractionAct as the on-site point of contact for customersCommunicate scope of work, findings, and recommendationsAlways Represent Total Fire Protection in a professional mannerSafety & ComplianceEnsure all work meets OSHA, NFPA, and local fire code requirementsConduct pre-job safety checks and enforce PPE usageMaintain compliance with company and regulatory standardsDriving & Fleet ResponsibilitySafely operate company vehicles to and from job sitesMaintain responsibility for assigned vehicle, tools, and equipmentEnsure compliance with company vehicle policies and all traffic lawsPerform basic vehicle checks and report maintenance or safety concernsRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience in commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning (hood & duct)Prior experience leading crews or supervising field teamsStrong working knowledge of NFPA 96 and fire safety standardsValid driver's license with a clean driving record (required)Ability and willingness to operate company vehicles as part of daily job dutiesAbility to work overnight shifts and flexible schedulesComfortable working at heights, on rooftops, and in confined spacesP64 COF FDNYNassau County COFPreferred QualificationsCertifications related to kitchen exhaust cleaning or fire protection systemsOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationExperience with service documentation systems or mobile field softwareKey CompetenciesLeadership and accountabilityAttention to detail and quality controlProblem-solving in field environmentsStrong communication and customer service skillsPhysical RequirementsThe job may require moderate physical labor including activities such as lifting equipment, climbing ladders, or working in confined spaces.Why Join UsCompetitive salary and benefits package.Opportunity to make a significant impact in a growing and dynamic industry.Collaborative and supportive work culture focused on professional growth and development.If you are an accomplished professional with the ability to build relationships, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity with our fire and life safety company.Think you have what it takes to be a Total Fire Protection team member?
