Customer Service Representative
Overview:
Entry to advanced level very detailed data input / clerical work and applicant testing, requiring considerable contact with the general public that involves the various combinations of services provided by the Tax Collector. Attention to detail and accuracy is of upmost importance. Duties may also include electronic communications, mail, phones and or high-speed processing.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Office Managers and the Director of Motorist Services Administrators.
Responsibilities:

Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply appropriate policies and procedures defined by Florida Statutes, Department of Revenue, local ordinances, Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Department of Agriculture, Department of Health and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as they relate to transactions processed by the Tax Collector’s Office.
Ability to verify work product for accuracy and compliance
Ability to convey instructions either verbally or in writing as they relate to transactions processed by the Tax Collector, including but not limited to: Process and/or explain the property tax collection processes, Process and explain the issuance of Local Business Tax Receipts, Process and/or explain Concealed Weapon Permit Applications, Process and explain Disabled Parking Permit renewals and originals, Process and explain Florida Hunting and Fishing, Process and explain the issuance of Florida Driver License and Real ID Cards for US and Non-US Residents, Process and explain expired, suspended and/or cancelled driver licenses and corrective measures needed to reinstate, Conduct and/or explain driver’s license road test for adults or minors and requirements needed, Process and/or explain Florida and Out of State title transfers, Process and/or explain registration renewals
Evaluate applications and applicants for licensure or permitting.
Must be able to act as a cashier for large monetary transactions, accept multiple forms of payment, provide basic math computations and make change.
Must be able to reconcile daily transactions and payments received.
Fosters a spirit of teamwork.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Ability to work Monday through Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Ability to work in all locations.
Ability to retain knowledge of Tax Collector’s duties and responsibilities.
Ability to retain knowledge of the Tax Collector’s Office policies, procedures and practices.
Ability to access, input and retrieve and safeguard confidential data using various computer programs and applications.
Ability to act with good judgment and flexibility as well as act decisively to analyze and solve problems.
Ability to multi-task
Ability to prioritize and organize.
Ability to type 35 WPM
Ability to interact with customers and co-workers in a courteous and effective manner.
Ability to correctly make mathematical computations using a 10 key calculator.
Ability to ride as a passenger in a car or light truck operated through a series of specified maneuvers while evaluating and rating the driver’s skill to drive safely and in accordance to Florida Traffic Laws.

Education and Experience:
High School graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Essential Physical Skills:
Ability to see and hear with or without correction.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in the English language.
Must be able to use computers and other office machines to perform job duties.
Must be able to maneuver without assistance in an office environment, stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arm.
Must be able to routinely lift and/or move items weighing 25 pounds or more.
Must be able to maneuver in and out of applicant’s passenger vehicles and light trucks without assistance.
Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
