Barista and Cashier

Brewed Awakenings Café is an independent, family owned coffee shop and café. But we are much more. We offer a cozy place to hang out, meet friends, or hold meetings. We are looking for a person who is passionate about coffee and making people happy. He/she is responsible for educating customers about our premium coffee and other drink products, made from scratch baked goods, sandwiches & paninis and homemade soup. They will be expected to provide exceptional customer service at the register and the espresso machine. Responsibilities Greet customers as they enter Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios) Prepare beverages following recipes Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards) Keep the front and customer area clean Comply with health and safety regulations Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items Skills Previous work experience as a Barista (optional) Be a team player Flexibility to work various shifts Ability to multi task is a must Be able to handle stressful and busy situations that occur Basic math skills Ability to gauge customers’ preferences Excellent communication skills Qualifications - Barista experience - Proficiency in POS systems - Strong customer service skills - Ability to handle cash register and cash handling - Knowledge of food safety and food handling procedures - Basic math skills for transactions and inventory management - Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and team members Job Type: Part-time Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week Benefits: Employee discount Flexible schedule Paid time off Shift: 8 hour shift Day shift Evening shift Morning shift Experience: Customer service: 1 year (Required) Barista experience: 1 year (Preferred) Work Location: In person
