Warehouse Coordinator The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Warehouse Coordinator for the Town's Central Warehouse. The Town of Clayton employs more than 340 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts. The Town of Clayton is the fastest growing town in Johnston County, which is the fastest growing county in the State of North Carolina.Duties & Responsibilities This role involves the efficient management of the Town's Central Warehouse, encompassing routine and special deliveries of supplies, materials, and equipment. The position is responsible for optimizing storage space and ensuring the safekeeping of goods. Collaboration with various departments is crucial to maintaining correct inventory levels in department vehicles. The role includes documenting receipt of items into an automated purchasing system (City Works) with a focus on fixed asset, receipt, and inventory control. The individual analyzes inventory movement, suggests reorder points, and coordinates with vendors for quotes. Additionally, the role entails conducting periodic physical inventories, operating warehouse equipment and vehicles, serving walk-in customers, and managing the inventory and disposition of surplus property. Phone inquiries and requests are promptly addressed, and shipments are inspected to identify and report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies. The position encompasses a range of duties aimed at ensuring efficient warehouse operations and fulfilling similar tasks as assigned.Arranges the storekeeping of goods, materials, supplies and equipment to optimize safekeeping and use of space.Works with various departments to ensure department vehicles maintain the correct inventory.Assists with documenting receipt of goods, materials, and equipment into an automated purchasing system (City Works) that includes fixed asset, receipt, and inventory control.Analyzes inventory movement and suggests re-order points and/or adjustments in the amount of inventory stored for future consumption.Establishes and follows reorder points, contacts vendors for quotes.Assists with coordinating and conducting periodic physical inventories, including the physical year formal inventory, of warehoused items.Operates warehouse equipment and vehicles including trucks and forklifts.Serves walk-in customers, charges materials to proper departments.Assists with inventory and disposition of surplus property, processing necessary forms and documentation.Responds to phone inquiries and requests.Unloads and inspects shipments of materials, equipment and supplies received in order to ensure compliance with purchase order specifications.Identifies and report shortages, damages, and other discrepancies.Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.Special Requirements, Education & Experience This position requires:Working knowledge of the principles and practices of the operations, services and activities of central warehouse procedures.Requires a basic knowledge of the materials, equipment and supplies stored and used in Town operations.Thorough understanding of warehouse recordkeeping techniques including appropriate computer-aided programs for purchase orders, fixed assets (capital and inventory), receiving, scheduling, and inventory management.Knowledge of and skill at using warehouse equipment such as, but not limited to, forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling devices.Sufficient math, language and writing skills to document maintain records according to departmental standards.Sufficient human relations skill to maintain positive work relationships with internal customers and vendors.Thorough knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment, and electronic purchasing.General knowledge of personal computers and PC software.Ability to perform the functions of the position and schedule warehouse activity in a manner conducive to proficient performance.Requires the ability to plan, prioritize, and perform as necessary to meet schedules and timelines.Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED is required.Certified Forklift Operations is preferred.One year of warehouse and fixed asset control experience preferred.OR Depending on the position, the Town may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
