Construction Superintendent

Overview Our client is seeking a Construction Superintendent I to support a major healthcare renovation project at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day field operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with federal standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with USACE/government contracting experience and healthcare construction exposure, ideally within renovation environments. Key Responsibilities The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily operations from project planning through completion, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to contract requirements. Manage and maintain project schedules in accordance with plans and specifications Coordinate subcontractors and ensure work aligns with contract documents Interpret construction drawings and direct field execution Oversee project planning, budgeting, and field operations Administer project reporting, billing reviews, and contract submittals Support design reviews and provide direction to subcontractors and trades Monitor progress payments, government-furnished property, and contract phases Lead weekly, pre-construction, and post-construction meetings Prepare cost tracking and assist with budget management Ensure compliance with federal regulations (SCA, Davis-Bacon, etc.) Maintain strong client relationships through professional communication Uphold site safety standards and ensure high-quality project delivery Perform additional project-related duties as requiredQualifications5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent Strong background supporting USACE or federal government construction projects Experience with healthcare or medical construction (at any point in career) Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical) Ability to read and interpret construction drawings Familiarity with federal compliance and documentation requirements ASHE Healthcare Construction Certification (HCC) (Must have or obtain within 30 days of hire (company-paid training))
